Find out about our amazing art collection and discover more about the fascinating lives which shaped it. Talks are given by a member of the Gallery Assistant team and last approximately 15 minutes. Meet in the Garman Ryan Collection Galleries on the Floor 1.

Architecture Tour
Want to know more about the stunning architecture of the Stirling Prize short listed New Art Gallery Walsall? Explore the materials used to create it the gallery, feel the Douglas Fir wood paneling and textured concrete whilst listening to the sounds of the building. During the tour you will be introduced to the collections, Disco - The Family Gallery, the temporary exhibition spaces as well as behind the scenes.

The gallery offers a range of accessible guided touch tours with a dedicated member of staff where you and your group can handle sculptures and materials. Tours can be tailored to meet individual or group requirements. Please book in advance and discuss your requirements, some of the possible subjects of tours are:

Garman Ryan Collection Touch Tour
The Garman Ryan Collection contains many bronze sculptures by Jacob Epstein. This tour offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about his flamboyant and expressive portrait style. The sculptures are coated in a wax resin that protects them from chemicals in the skin so that they can be explored through touch, as part of an organised tour.

Making Sculptures in Bronze
Have you ever wondered how artists are able to make bronze seem so lifelike? This tour investigates the process of producing bronze sculptures through a series of specially commissioned handling models, which demonstrate the many stages of this fascinating process.
